A Book A Day Keeps the Boredom at Bay

If there is one thing that I do not hesitate to spend money on, it will be definitely one of these two:
FOOD or BOOKS!

Today, Popular Book Store is having a Preview Day for its Popular card members! They can enjoy a better bargain up to 70% discounts. Needless to say, a crowd will always gather when there is a sale. It was already swarmed with people when I reached there at 11:10am, just 10 minutes after the shop opens for business. It is both ridiculous but predictable at the same time.

Anyway, I knew what I wanted to buy before I even set foot into the store. I was only expecting to buy 4 books: The Time Traveler's Wife, The Gift, My Sister's Keeper and Have a Little Faith. However, I couldn't find the first two books on my mental list. Curses... those two books were on top of my list and were the ones with very good reviews!! It was then my brother, who went there with me, said he will picked out some titles for me. Spontaneously, I jumped for the suggestion! Most of the titles that were chosen by him were bestsellers! Crap... they were discounted only at 20%! Oh well... at least it is better than no discount at all, right? Therefore, I ended up buying 9 books! I wonder how long it will take me to finish all of them...?

The Attack of Creativity

After graduation, I suddenly feel...... FREE.... free as a bird. I am free to do whatever I want... for now at least. Before I battle the issue of either furthering my studies or start working (actually, I am stalling >_<), I decided to embrace the artistic side of mine by doing some arts and craft. =P

I have seen many people who have hand-made their own jewelery, some even make a fortune out of them. I was definitely intrigued to try it out myself. Sure enough, I was able to make a simple bracelet as well by using beads and wires. Not bad for the first try eh?


Besides the bracelet, I revamped a boring old puzzle box into something more presentable. You know, whenever a person receives a present, one's common reaction would be to guess what is in the box. One will tap, shake and listen to the present in order to figure out the contents. This idea was from an arts and craft book I bought the other day. Naturally, I tried to make my own "peekaboo" (as I like to call it) present box. And TADA~! What do you think?
On the side note, internet has been slow... I wonder why?

Blogger of the Day and How to Get the Girl

Congratulate me!!! I am the Blogger of the Day in Blogger United!!!! Wahhahahha!!! This is my fourth time being crowned as the Blogger of the Day!! Okokok... calm down... breathe in breathe out... :D Sorry for getting overly excited! I just finished my final lecture of the entire semester! I am extremely happy as I FINALLY have time to study and do revision for my upcoming exams, which is in exactly two weeks! I really want to do well as this is my final semester. I do not want to deter another semester or have a late graduation. That would be utterly embarassing, I would drilled a hole just to cover my face if that happens.

Anyway, just wanna share what I saw in someone's blog just now.
Guys, have you ever wondered how to get a girl of your dreams? Obviously, I am sure you have some tricks up your sleeve but how many of those attempts have been successful? Junk Makeover

Whenever I'm back home, Mum would always tells me to get rid of my old junk that I do not need anymore. She said leaving the things all over the place is just collecting dust. After being nagged for quite a while, I finally decided to act. I got out all my old comics, tore them apart, separating the colours and the black and white for recycling purposes and packed them into small stacks. As I was cleaning up, I found some old stuff that I never used before. For instance, a black handphone cover. I forgot how I got it in the first place but I know I got it for free. I never used it because it was really dull and the material was kinda rough. As I was about to throw it away, I felt that it was a bit wasteful because it was still in a good condition and is useable. Therefore, I decided to give it makeover. I searched through the pile of old clothes that we wanted to give away and found one that was... not too bad looking and still in good condition as well. After working on it for 2 hours (it was that long because it was hand sewn).....

It took a while but I'm glad I did not throw it away. Being me, I started to find other junks to play play. Old notebook (torn all the useless written pages)......

Dooodolls

For the past several days, I have been spending my days going out with my mother and brother. Our activities were usually are SHOPPING and EATING. Yes, only these two - always back and forth. Days were pretty typical, that is until.... I saw THIS!

It is SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!! These are called dooodolls! They come in 12 different creatures according to the Zodiac Star Sign. And the above, so it happens to be for PISCES which is my Sign!! Hahahaha... destiny! I really adore the FLOPPY BABY version! So...

TA DAH! SO SO CUTE! It cost RM24.90 but I was unable to resist!

2nd Day of Raya

I'm going back to Subang tomorrow! All sorts of emotions going through my whole being at the moment...
Relief - Mum won't have to stuff food down my throat (I have been over-eating) Sad - Leaving my parents behind... again. And my bed... AND my room... Scared - Finals in two weeks...Worried - Still have plenty more to cover...

Putting those feelings aside, let me begin my story...
An undergraduate student met up with a fresh graduate for DIM SUM this morning. Place was crowded. Figures. It is a public holiday. Was sitting there waiting to be served and then I saw...
"SATURDAY, SUNDAY and PUBLIC HOLIDAY - SELF SERVICE" O...K... self-service it is then! These two girls started chatting and chatting... and chatting and chatting... chatting and chatting... and chatting and chatting... chatting and chatting... and chatting and chatting... What??? Were you expecting something interesting? Sorry to burst your bubble. When girls meet together, 99% of the time they do is TALK.

I told my mum earlier that I need a new jacket as my old one is going to wear out soon... We just dropped by Island Plaza for an hour and I have found an awesome cool jacket! With hood too!!! VELVET material!

Stress-Free Day: Day One

A new day... no class... no assignments... no books to study. Hmmm... yes... I'm feeling a bit odd that's all, all the sudden there's nothing to worry about =P Now I can take the time to smell the roses. Outside the sisters' house, there lies a tree where its flowers were blooming and I didn't even notice until this beautiful morning when I got back from the petrol station. It was so pretty~!



After settling some stuff, we (my housemates and I) went to Sunway Pyramid to have lunch with a sister who has finished her foundations studies and is going to pursue her studies elsewhere. While we were there, we saw something interesting. I used to see this in music videos and pictures but never in real life!

It was really funny~! I took about 3 videos of this but I just uploaded the final battle between two US fellows. I really wanted to try but didn't have the guts to do it. It looks FUN~! And besides, I think it is only meant for the males.

Anyway, since I am so free, I decided to find a good novel for some light reading. I wanted to find a thriller or crime genre fiction novels, however, I wasn't too sure about some of them. So I grew tired looking for a good book, I straight away took one from the books in the recommended section and bought it without thinking too much. From the title, it is obviously a romance novel. That very night, as I was reading it, it is more about the-losing-your-soul-mate-and-can't-go-on type of plot and finally how did she overcame the entire situation with the help of her late husband's "list". It's good for a light read as it is pretty funny, especially when she (oh, the main character in the novel is called Holly) hangs out with her amazing and supportive best friends. Basically, it's also about moving on with life. Apparently they made this into a movie. Never seen it before, I don't think they even aired it here in Malaysia. I don't know, I just really lost to what is the latest movies these days.


It took me several hours just to finish it. Hmm... I wonder what should I do now?

Hots for Reading

Spent two days to finish two novels - my best record yet! My friend at work lend me a novel entitled Singletini. At first glance, the title really attracted me but I sorta knew that it must a chick-flick type of novel. I still went ahead and gave it a try as working does tend to make one feeling rather moody at times. Singletini is definitely amusing in the sense that the leading character Victoria is really your very typical kind of girl - always last minute, matchmaker, weight conscious, shopaholic, dramatic and so on, so forth. A lot of chaos in every single chapter of the book but with that aside, it is really does struck me on the part of growing up. As a very brief overview, Victoria is a 24-year-old girl who got fired and found a job that she really likes, matchmaking. To her, it's all about the fun and parties. On the other hand, her three best friends are growing up and are either getting engaged or pregnant. She messed up a whole lot of stuff along the way, but it is at one stage where she finally accepts the reality of growing up with the help of her faithful and loyal friends. When I closed the book, I wonder when I will reach maturity in the way that I think or do. Everyone is treating me like a kid so I'm assuming that I am still acting like one. Hopefully not too late...

The other book I read is written by Nicholas Sparks, The Rescue. I can't really put the book down. Pictures and scenes flooded my imaginations and they were running like a movie as I flipped through each page. It's not exciting or thrilling but it is the story that keeps you going on and on. Sparks' books are mostly always about love and hope. This particular book tells about a man couldn't let go of his past causing him couldn't really love a person forever until he saves a woman and a child.... Read the book if you wanna know how it went about. It does leave a warm and fuzzy feeling inside :)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars

It's a clear night again - not a single cloud could be found. A perfect scenery as I gaze upon all the twinkling little stars shining above. Fortunate it is for me to be where I am right now. Although astronomy is not my cup of tea, I do enjoy just merely watching them shine. The only this I know about astronomy is a particular constellation and that is... ehhh... wait... I don't actually know the name... Let me go Google it...

This is called the Orion also known as The Hunter. I know this as it is said to be the most common and the most easily identify constellation. It has a distinguish feature which have three stars forming a straight line; so whenever I see that, I would always figured that is Orion. Well.. how would I know anyway... I just like to gaze the stars. It's really quite relaxing and it never fails to amaze me how wonderful God's creation is. Really! Every night, I would look up the sky and I would feel that this world or universe that we live in is very mysterious... It's a bliss to be ignorant at times, too much information will causes all the attraction and mystery to just fade away...

DAMN.. not again! My jeans felt tighter when I put them on this morning! Crap! Why is my will power so so weak??? Looks like I need to diet again. Hmph... I often told myself that I need to be happy with who I am and live life to the fullest but every time I gained weight, I would dread and force myself to go on a diet. Sigh... I don't get it, why people are so worried about their weight? Is it due to the health issues? Well, I personally don't think that the only reason we do it is because we have nothing else better to do - that is just plain idiotic. Oh why do I bothered thinking about it anyway? Looks like no sweets and candy for me these days. Anyway, now for the updates...

Recently, I bought a guitar and I'm LOVING IT! The owner of the guitar shop told me that Höfner is the brand that was used by the legendary group of all time, The Beatles. I didn't really care as I am not a fan. As a beginner, I do not know much about guitars but I do prefer Höfner over YAMAHA as the sound quality is brighter and clearer. Next time I shall take a picture of my babe and upload it here, okies? *wink*



Oh! Tower Records was holding a storewide 20% sale for all the CDs sold there during Christmas and New Year's Day. And guess what I bought for only RM36.72? BACKSTREET BOYS latest album! Unbreakable is definitely better than the previous album Never Gone as I thought that the last album was kinda slow, too many ballads. Unbreakable is definitely louder and plenty of weird combination made by various music instruments but it does have a nice beat to it. I was just a bit disappointed that Max Martin did not contribute his works in this album. He wrote a lot of songs for the BSB in previous albums which I really adore. Having said that, I still like this album, it shows BSB can also do rock music as well.

As for my industrial training, I am only left with three and a half weeks unto completion. I don't know how it happen but time just flew by. When I first started, I was worried that I need to work for two whole months which at that time seem pretty long. Now, one month has already passed. I met some pretty nice people over there and I hope I would use the time that I have left to treasure this experience. Here are some pictures of my colleagues. Venetia is my coursemate who is taking this training. The furthest right is Kak Mas - my private nickname for her is MasManis because she will always greet us with a very sweet smile.


Miss Khor - I would have to say she is the Early Bird of the bunch. Whenever I reached my workplace in the morning, she will be the first person I see!


This is Abang Loh. He is the youngest person working in the lab (excluding us, trainees). He is the workaholic, always working OT and on-call. And oh, he likes to kacau girls especially Kak Mas :D

There is still others but I haven't taken any photos with them yet. Hopefully will do it soon. That's all for today, I need to crash or else I will be late for work tomorrow. Au revoir~!

Backstreet's Back All RIGHT!

Yeah... I still love them. Can't help it, they are one of the first few groups I started listen to when I was young. Though missing one member, they still sing great.

I spent the night watching through all the music videos they had made... Boy, it do brings back memories~ Their very first single, We've Got it Going On to the latest single, Inconsolable. I suddenly feel like a very little girl now... :P Been constantly playing Inconsolable over and over again on my Walkman phone. Yes, the Backstreet Boys are definitely back! I spent the night looking through all the music videos they had made throughout the years. Gosh.. They are no longer boys... they are MEN. I gotta listen to their previous album soon~ :D

Howl's Moving Castle

I haven't watch any shows since my last trip to the cinema to watch Transformers. Yes, it has been a long time. As I was resting, got my mind off my books and exams for a day, my housemate recommended me to watch an anime, Howl's Moving Castle. It's really a fantasy story about wizardry and love. It's is quite nice and humourous to entertain your temporary soulish pleasures. It does bring out your inner child within you, making one believe in fairy tales again. Then again, reality is always at the door, you can't run away from it no matter how hard you try. And as of right now, I need to face reality. It is time for me to gety back to my studies. I've been spending too much time in front of the computer already. Toodles~!

BINGO

Finally the virus is removed from my computer system, hopefully it will stay that way for a long long time. However, the internet line connection tonight is just simply terrible. Calling my dear "hubby", SIN LING, on Skype and MSN Messenger numerous times and kept getting disconnected! Streamyx - sometimes it is such a major disappointment. On the bright side, well... just a little good part about it is that Sin Ling and I would goof around whenever we have to start a new call. We would make strange funny and silly sounds such "elllooooo", "HAArrrrLLLoooooo" and etc. It's really good to hear your old friend's voice. Makes me miss the good old days....

Oh, just now in the house, I do not know how it all started but BINGO was the in-thing all of the sudden! Only for about half hour only though, everyone in the house was just having fun. Since there were seven of us, 5 by 5 boxes of BINGO would be too few. We ended up playing 6 by 6 boxes of Bingo. I could see that my housemates were really into it because they were like smiling mischievously when the right number was called and frowned when the number is unfavourable to them. I haven't played BINGO for so long. I was the fourth one to BINGO! All right... time to crash. bye~~

An Escape from Everything

I haven't gone out and have fun for the longest time.... well, actually it's been three weeks, still, it seems pretty darn long. Yesterday finally came the opportunity for me to just get out of the house. Sometimes the aura of the world just mess with your conscience and drags you down in the pit, causing you to suffer the next day after much play... It's tragic I know and yet I do it all the time. It means I am so so weak.....

Anyway, went out with my cousins and friend yesterday. We went to Tony Roma's for a late lunch. Never been there before so we thought of giving it a go. It's setting and atmosphere somewhat somewhat similar to T.G.I's Friday. The food portion-wise is comparative to the prices set. The cheaper it is, the smaller the portion it is and vice versa. Moreover, I think at night it changes from a restaurant to a sophisticated pub as they serve a lot of various alcohol such as martini and wine. Food is not too bad but it could be better. I had the set lunch. The soup of the day was 'chicken noodle' soup. The name really sounds weird but it is literally bits and pieces of chicken boiled with bow-tie pasta and celery. I really dislike celery. The soup was not good at all, they have put too much pepper in it. Strange combination, too bad it doesn't work out that well. Later, I have Marinated Chicken Grill. The chicken was extremely small but it was very filling due to the french fries and coleslaw. Coleslaw tasted exactly like KFC's. Oh, the best part is that you are able to get unlimited refill on the soft drink that you ordered. Overall, it was just ok, I wouldn't say 5/5.

After a heavy lunch, we went to catch Transformers! I have been so anxious to watch the show as I got a lot of feedback from my friends saying that it was totally awesome. And I have to agree with them. It's funny, action-packed and I absolutely love the sound when they transform. The only critic that I would make is that the modal of the transformers in the movie differs slightly from the original in the cartoons back in the early nineties. It was really great as you got the hot actress and goofy male leading actress, you are definitely in for a good time.

We went to my cousin's place for dinner after we picked up my other cousin from class. My aunt has prepared Fried Chicken, Steamed Fish, Mixed Vegetables, Prawns, Fried Lady's Finger and ABC soup. It was insane for her to cook so much. For her to take the time to slice, dice, season and cook, it was really unbelievable, I really felt the love. We prayed sincerely together with the elderly brothers and sisters before we eat. I was extremely full but there was more to come. They had prepared star fruits, mangoes and ice cream. They just want to fill us up. I probably gained a few pounds since yesterday.

Finally the night come to an end, they dropped me back home and I fell straight into my bed and slept for nine hours. *sarcastically* Great way to burn the calories..... just great....

Virginity

A virgin girl is on the phone, talking to her boyfriend and asks him to come over and have dinner with her parents. Since this is such a big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and make love for the first time.

Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. He tells the pharmacist it's his first time and the pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and sex.

At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all.

That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parents house and meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh, I'm so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in!"

The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head.
