The Fortune of the Day is...

What better way to start off the CNY with a fortune cookie! Mum bought it from Cold Storage and it tasted like oranges!

So my fortune for this first day of CNY is...

"Your dreams are never silly, depend on them to guide you."

When my parents saw it, they had that look on their faces. I know what they are thinking. They are thinking that, "Your dreams are ALWAYS SILLY!!!" Oh well... *shrugged* doesn't matter =)

Happy CNY people!!!!

The Eve of the Coming New Year

2009 is just around the corner, in exactly.... 30 minutes. Instead of writing the usual "events in 2008" or "resolutions for 2009", I decided to assemble some quotes that I like to welcome the new year.

"I wake expectant, hoping to see a new thing." - Annie Dillard

"Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King Jr.

"Don't be afraid if things seem difficult in the beginning. That's only the initial impression. The important thing is not to retreat; you have to master yourself." - Olga Korbut

"The beginning is the most important part of the work" - Plato

"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again." - Og Mandino

To 2008, I bid farewell... and to 2009, good morning :)

PUNK'D on April Fool's Day

I really thought that it was going to be a peaceful April Fool's Day - no practical jokes and no hoax. I kinda thought we were all mature enough to see past these little "joys" in life. But I did ended up getting PUNK'D at the end of the day.

My friend Hui Wearn aka Mummy, had an eye infection in her right eye and there was inflamed. It looks pretty bad and she told me she was going to the clinic near Sunway Pyramid. Here's a brief overview of the entire conversation during MSN that fateful night.

KimberlyMay: Hey, how's your eye?
HuiWearn: Not good. She found a pus. She told me to go and see an eye specialist ASAP.
KimberlyMay: Hah... that bad ah?
HuiWearn: Yalor... delay too long d.... She told me have see a specialist soon or else I might lose my eye.
KimberlyMay: Hah... then, when are you going?
Hui Wearn: Not going le, no time. See how, I'll try to rearrange.
KimberlyMay: Hah... but the doctor said it's serious wor~ and you are saying no time?
Hui Wearn: Don't worry. She told me at the end, HAPPY APRIL FOOL!
KimberlyMay: .......................... crap.

A Twist in Mooncake Festival

Happy Mooncake Festival, people! It is the fifteenth of August in the Lunar Calendar where there is a full moon and a lot of mooncakes to choose from. Besides having the traditional mooncakes, this year, my godmother, blessed her soul, she bought me an ice-cream mooncake from Haagen-Dazs! Anyone who knows me know that I am an Ice-Cream and Chocolate fanatic! Though this ice cream mooncake is not something new, it tastes much better when it first started out. I remembered asking my Dad to buy the ice cream mooncake from Haagen-Dazs a few years back. It was a disappointment as the ice-cream modified 'egg-yolk' taste really weird and it didn't win our hearts at the very beginning. Now, they had changed the 'egg-yolk' to sherbet orange which tastes excellent!
Doesn't it look adorable?yummy~!

Day One, Goal One

I am back in KL, in other words, I am back to the big reality. Today is a brand new day, I am gonna make a new goal everyday for me to keep up with. One small goal seems like it is a little but I'm still trying to make a change in my life. So my goal for today is to plan ahead my timetable for my semester. Will update more later. By the way, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my old pal, SHANKAR!!! He is my good friend during our college year together :P

Fortune Cookie... Anyone?

I have seen them in movies, heard about them but it was only recently that I have gotten the chance to actually taste them. Yes, this Chinese New Year was quite different from the ones that I had. Fortune cookies were originally from California, not China. A bit shocking, however, it was invented by a Chinese/Japanese immigrant. I had my first fortune cookie on the Eve of the Year of the Boar (the Westerners called it the Year of the Golden Pig! Hehehe... ) and it says "You will be fortunate in the opportunities presented to you." At that particular time, I was checking in a five star hotel with excellent room service and a fantastic room... yeap... it was true, I was very fortunate. :-) Besides, the note in the fortune cookies, the cookies themselves actually taste pretty darn good! Crispy yet tasty~! Oh well, wishing all of you a very Happy Chinese New Year and Good Fortunes for all~!
