My Valentine's Day

01

*knock* *knock* *knock*

'He's punctual, as usual,' I smiled at the thought.

After stealing a few looks at the mirror, making sure I'm dolled up nicely, I went to open the door. There he was, a dashing young man who is smiling bashfully at me. "Ready?" he asked. I nodded and took him by his arm, followed him towards his car.

"Where will you taking me today?"

"You'll see."

As he opened the car door for me, he leaned in and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek. "Happy Valentine's Day."

"Happy Valentine's Day, Grace."

"Hey, don't you call me that."

"But you won't let me call you by your first name." Christopher is his first name.

"Doesn't mean you should call me by my last name."

"All right, all right, Topher." Giving a kiss back. "Happy Valentine's Day."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, you heard me right. It is THE Topher Grace from the hit comedy series "That's 70's Show."
Isn't he dreamy?

He has finished filming his latest movie entitled "Valentine's Day" which will be out in February 2010. Finally, we will be able to spend some time together. Here is the movie trailer.

Now back to my story.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was the middle of the night and the whole place is deserted. Well, that's the idea of having REAL privacy when you are dating a celebrity. But I was glad that we were alone now. He's been away for months and I am glad he is here. He held my hand all the way while he was driving. I loved it.

We reached a place that I do not know, or I haven't seen before. It was just too dark to see what this place is. All I know is that it was a huge building and... the doors were locked. But of course, Topher had the keys.

"Close your eyes."

"What?"

"Close your eyes," he repeated.

"It's dark, Topher. I can't see anything."

"Just do it," he insisted.

"Oh.. oh all right."

*click* *click* *click*

"Now open them."

"Oh my goodness...."

"Now I know where we are!"

"Can I have this dance?"

Smiling happily, I gave him my hand and he pulled me close. Swaying slowly under the many many stars, shining down on us. It was purely magical.

Just the two of us.
Nobody else.
Just the two of us and the twinkling stars.
Just being in his arms makes everything seems so irrelevant and insignificant.

Then, it was time to leave.

He has to work early in the morning at 5am. Such a relationship is difficult but quoting the movie trailer, "Valentine's Day is about anger, disappointment, love, romance, mating, digressions, sparkly and commitment." He sent me home and kissed me so passionately that I just felt weak at my knees.

"See you later."

"Yeah, see you."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's now 9 in the morning.

"What are you doing in bed?!?" my housemate voice screaming at my ear. "It's VALENTINE'S DAY!!!"

I smiled, mumbling, "I just had the best Valentine's Day." And continued sleeping.

"What?" she asked.

E&O Hotel: English Afternoon Tea

Good evening! I am in a pleasant mood today~! :D Thanks to the contribution of a certain someone, my Mum and I had the opportunity to dine at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel, which was established since 1885. We went there to have the hotel's English Afternoon Tea. Sounds very elite, don't you think so?

Even the ashes are decorated.... @___@

I have been hearing quite a lot of people going for high tea and afternoon tea. Initially I thought both of them were the same. On that contrary, it is not the case. In brief, high tea is held later in the evening (around 6pm) while afternoon tea is taken from two something to five in the evening. Besides the different time setting, the food served during high tea is heavier in contrast to the latter. Here is the link for a more elaborate explanation.

As we enter into the 1885 restaurant, we were greeted by...

...lots and lots of pastries and cakes!!!

We were escorted to our seats, which was located near a glassed door, where a garden is just right outside.

And how can you have afternoon tea without tea? I had chosen Creme Orange tea, which a blend of vanilla essence and orange flavour tea. It is very aromatic and sweet smelling.
P1000187aI was told that the English would often add milk and sugar to their tea when they attend to such events. Being the curious person that I am, I gave it a try...
Honestly, I can't tell the difference!

So what did we have for our English afternoon tea?
P1000182a Scones, sandwiches, pastries and cakes! These sandwiches aren't your ordinary sandwiches. They were made with roasted beef, smoked salmon, dill and cucumber! Simply superb!

When I first saw the food, I whispered my mum, "Mum, this is IT?? FOR TWO???" Yes, I was complaining that the portion being served was too little. However, I regretted I said that AFTER I finished my share of scones and sandwiches. I was already FULL!~! We had to rest a while before we continued with the rest.

P1000189a Overall, the food was IMPECCABLE! It was absolutely a great experience for my taste buds as I have never tasted anything like it before~! Therefore, today was a good day!

Playing the Waiting Game

Currently I have been stuck at home waiting for an important phone call. It is the ONE phone call which will determine the future of mine. It has already been a month of waiting. However I can't do anything about it. I can only WAIT... and WAIT... and WAIT....

Protests turned Ugly

Firebomb attacks on Malaysian churches

ROMEN BOSE January 9, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR: Four Malaysian churches have been firebombed, with one left badly damaged, in an escalating dispute over the use of the word Allah by non-Muslims.

As Muslim groups held protests yesterday, police increased security around churches after one in Kuala Lumpur was set ablaze in a midnight attack that left its ground floor gutted. Three other churches were attacked hours later, with one sustaining minor damage, while the others were not damaged. No arrests have been made.

The Home Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, appealed for calm amid the conflict over the use of Allah as a translation for God by Christians, and assured minorities in Malay-dominated Malaysia that ''they are safe''.

''I take the events that happened last night very seriously,'' he told a press conference. ''We want to assure the public that this was not a co-ordinated and well-planned action.

''Let's hope for the best in a few hours' time,'' he said before the protests that took place at two main mosques in the capital after yesterday's prayers.

Police said officers had been deployed to protect churches around the country and to monitor the protests, following the attacks and also phone threats against churches.

In Kuala Lumpur, young worshippers carried banners and vowed to defend Islam.

''We will not allow the word Allah to be inscribed in your churches,'' a speaker shouted into a loudspeaker at the Kampung Bahru mosque. About 50 people carried posters reading ''Heresy arises from words wrongly used'' and ''Allah is only for us''.

The High Court this month ruled in favour of a Catholic newspaper which used Allah as a translation for God. The Government has said the word should be used only by Muslims. The ruling was suspended on Wednesday pending an appeal.

''Islam is above all. Every citizen must respect that,'' said Ahmad Johari, who attended prayers at the National Mosque. ''I hope the court will understand the feeling of the majority Muslims of Malaysia. We can fight to the death over this issue.''

The rallies were held inside the mosque compounds after police banned protests on the streets. Participants dispersed peacefully afterwards.

Pribumi Perkasa, one of the groups organising the demonstrations, condemned the fire-bombings but warned that Malays were deeply concerned.

This is getting out of hand. Now FOUR churches are being affected. In Malaysia, the Malays take up around 60% of the entire population. If the Malays are not happy, they will not simply let this matter go. If this goes on, we can forget about "1Malaysia". What my friend said is true, "All it takes is for ONE person to burn a mosque, a WAR will begin."
May we pray for the safety of the believers in Christ as well as the citizens in Malaysia.

Update (11/01/10): Now EIGHT CHURCHES ARE BEING ATTACKED!!!!

Are You Done Talking?

Ever since the video and pictures of the molestation were posted on the net, people have been putting the blame on the Singaporeans who stood by and did nothing.. You see, this is ONE thing that I  dislike the most. It is always the same, when something happen, people will start to point fingers. After they have found a scapegoat, these people start to be all righteous and put the blame on the others, "educating" them how they should do this or that. To me... that is a whole lot of bull. For those Singaporeans who just stood by and watch the whole thing, actually they are just portraying exactly what we would do if we were there. Let's face it, we are all AFRAID of getting ourselves involved. UNLESS a bold person is willing to go up against these four men, someone MIGHT actually follow the lead and give a helping hand. According to the rumors, securities did finally come to the scene and sorted the whole thing.

When I saw the RAZORTV video on how Singaporeans would react if they were there at the scene, they just simply shrugged and said that they won't do anything. Although it seems selfish and ignorant, I really appreciate their honesty. We Asians are brought up in a way to mind our own business and not be so KPC. This is the reality of the world that we live in. So don't go and put the blame on others just because it is convenient for you to open your mouth and make SMART comments just to be part of the entire fiasco.

Now people are speculating that the 'victim' is a Thai transsexual...

HA! Are you people still going to tell the Singaporeans to help 'her'? Would you even go and help 'her'?

Highly UNLIKELY.

On the side note, what I learned from this incident is that you have to take care of yourself wherever you are. When you reach a certain age, you have to protect yourself. Don't expect people to help you out of these kind of situations. The world is not that kind.
